RF Microneedling in Flowood, Mississippi: The Skin Tightening Treatment Everyone’s Talking About

If you’ve been paying attention to what’s happening in the world of aesthetics over the last several years, you’ve probably heard a lot about microneedling. And if you’ve been doing your research, you may have come across something called RF microneedling — which is a step beyond traditional microneedling and produces results that, frankly, have to be seen to be believed.

At Glo-Med Aesthetics & Wellness in Flowood, Mississippi, we offer the Scarlet RF Microneedling system, and it’s become one of our most requested treatments for clients looking to address skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, uneven texture, and the kind of overall skin quality decline that tends to sneak up on you in your 30s, 40s, and beyond.

Here’s everything you need to know about what RF microneedling actually is, how the Scarlet system works, and whether it might be the right treatment for your skin.

Traditional Microneedling vs. RF Microneedling: What’s the Difference?

Traditional microneedling works by creating tiny, controlled micro-injuries in the skin using ultra-fine needles. This triggers the skin’s natural wound-healing response, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin — the structural proteins that keep skin firm, smooth, and resilient. The results are real, and traditional microneedling is genuinely effective for things like fine lines, acne scarring, and texture improvement.

RF microneedling takes this same foundation and adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles directly into the deeper layers of the skin. The radiofrequency energy heats the underlying tissue, causing immediate collagen contraction and triggering even more robust collagen remodeling over time. The combination produces more significant skin tightening and lifting than traditional microneedling alone — particularly in areas like the lower face, jowls, neck, and around the eyes.

The Scarlet RF System: Why We Use It

Not all RF microneedling devices are created equal. The Scarlet system is known in the aesthetics world for several reasons that matter a lot from a clinical standpoint.

Precision Depth Control

The Scarlet system allows our providers to adjust the needle depth precisely depending on the area of the face being treated. Different areas of the face have different skin thicknesses, and a device that can account for that produces better, safer results.

Short-Pulse Technology

Scarlet uses a short-pulse radiofrequency delivery method that allows for controlled energy distribution with less thermal spread to surrounding tissue. In practical terms, this means we can achieve excellent results with less post-treatment downtime and discomfort for our clients.

Versatility

Scarlet RF can be used on the face, neck, décolleté, and body. It’s effective for skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, enlarged pores, acne and acne scarring, and overall skin quality improvement. It’s also safe for a wider range of skin tones than some other energy-based treatments, which is important for our diverse client base in the Flowood and Jackson, Mississippi area.

What RF Microneedling Treats

Skin Laxity and Sagging

One of the most impressive things Scarlet RF does is address early-to-moderate skin laxity. That subtle drooping along the jawline, the softening of the lower face, the loosening of skin around the neck — these are the kinds of changes that can make someone look significantly older than they feel. RF microneedling stimulates collagen remodeling deep in the dermis and subdermis, producing a firming and lifting effect that builds over several months.

Fine Lines and Wrinkles

While injectables can relax expression lines, RF microneedling works to improve skin quality from the inside out. For fine lines caused by volume loss, skin thinning, and decreased collagen density, Scarlet RF’s collagen stimulating effects produce real, visible improvement.

Enlarged Pores

Pore size is largely genetic, but skin laxity and decreased collagen density can make pores appear larger over time. By tightening the surrounding skin tissue, RF microneedling can visibly reduce the appearance of enlarged pores.

Acne Scarring

This is one of the most rewarding applications of RF microneedling. Indented acne scars — the kind that create an uneven, pitted texture — form when the collagen structure in healed acne lesions is disrupted. RF microneedling’s collagen stimulating mechanism can significantly soften and improve the appearance of these scars over a series of treatments.

What to Expect During and After Your Scarlet RF Treatment

Before your treatment at Glo-Med Aesthetics, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to maximize your comfort. The treatment itself typically takes about 30 to 45 minutes depending on the area being treated. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or warmth — it’s well-tolerated.

After your Scarlet RF treatment, you can expect some redness and mild swelling for 24 to 48 hours. This is completely normal and is actually a sign that your skin’s healing response has been activated. Most clients are comfortable returning to normal activities within a day or two. Makeup can typically be applied after 24 hours, and we’ll give you specific aftercare instructions to help protect your results.

Results develop gradually as collagen production ramps up — most clients start noticing significant improvement around 4 to 8 weeks after their first treatment, with results continuing to improve for several months. For optimal results, we typically recommend a series of three treatments spaced about four weeks apart.
